How Much Does a Custom Luxury Bunk Bed Cost?
If you're planning a bunk room for a mountain home, lake house or vacation rental, price is usually the first real question, and it's one most bunk bed companies make you dig for. At Big Sky Bunks, every bed is custom built to order, so the final price depends on the size you choose and the upgrades you add. Here's what that looks like by bed size, add-on and shipping, so you can plan your budget before you pick up the phone.

Base Prices by Bed Size
Every Big Sky Bunks bed starts with the same foundation: double headboards on each bunk level, two rows of wooden safety rails and a wooden end-load ladder. From there, price scales with size:
Twin over Twin: $5,650
Twin XL over Twin XL: $5,750
Full over Full: $6,000
Queen over Queen: $6,250
Twin over Full: $6,500
Twin XL over Queen: $6,750
Not sure which size fits your room? Our guide to the top bunk bed configurations for vacation homes walks through the most common layouts, and you can compare every size side by side in our shop.
What Add-Ons Cost
The base price gets you a complete bunk bed with full safety rails. Many clients, especially those furnishing vacation rentals or busy bunk rooms, add an upgrade or two. Here is what each one adds:
Twin trundle: +$1,300 (+$1,400 on the Full over Full)
Top bunk platforms: +$350 to +$400, depending on bed size
Metal upgrade (industrial ladder and safety rails): +$1,300
Under-bed storage: +$1,400 as a bed option, or on its own for $1,100 (two drawers at the end of the bed) or $1,400 (three drawers along the side)
Built-in panels (+$1,300) and LED lights with USB charging ports (+$600 a pair): available on the Twin over Twin
Loft bed version: available on the Twin XL over Twin XL, Full over Full and Queen over Queen at the same price as a standard bunk
What Each Upgrade Includes
Twin trundle. A pull-out bed built from premium, cabinet grade plywood and sized for a twin mattress, with carpet or hardwood/concrete slides depending on your floor. It is a simple way to sleep one more guest.
Top bunk platforms. Cabinet grade plywood stained to match your bed. Platforms support the entire bottom of the mattress and hide its underside from the bottom sleeper, which makes them a great fit for memory foam mattresses.
Metal upgrade. Swaps the wooden safety rails, ladder and load-up handle for raw steel or powder-coated black 1" steel tubing.
Under-bed storage. Amish-built hardwood drawers with dovetail joinery, mounted on soft-close slides and finished with black powder-coated steel pulls.
Loft bed. Replaces the lower bunk with a C-shaped support system around the base, leaving open space underneath.

Shipping Costs
Shipping is a flat rate based on your region and the bed you choose:
Twin XL over Twin XL, Full over Full, Twin over Full and Twin XL over Queen: $375 to $575
Twin over Twin: $475 to $675
Queen over Queen: $575 to $775
Every bed ships disassembled and carefully packed onto a large pallet with a crate built around it. The pallet measures roughly 92" x 43" x 30" and weighs around 900 to 1,100 lbs, depending on quantity and add-ons.
A freight company delivers the pallet to your home and lowers it on a liftgate to your driveway. If bad weather is in the forecast, have a tarp ready unless you plan to move the bed inside right away. Clients find it easy to carry the components from the pallet to the room where the bunk will live.
Once it is inside, two people can assemble the bed in a couple of hours. While your bed is in transit, we send a step-by-step assembly video, and you receive all the hardware you need. You will find more answers on our FAQ page.
What a Real Order Looks Like
Here is what two common setups cost before shipping:
Queen over Queen with under-bed storage: $6,250 + $1,400 = $7,650, plus $575 to $775 shipping
Twin XL over Queen with the metal upgrade and a twin trundle: $6,750 + $1,300 + $1,300 = $9,350, plus $375 to $575 shipping
Costs add up as you layer upgrades, so it is worth deciding up front what matters most for your space. A vacation rental focused on guest capacity has different needs than a guest room in your primary home focused on design.
